LPG

  • Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG or LP gas), is a flammable mixture of hydrocarbon gases used as fuel in heating appliances, cooking equipment, and vehicles. It is a mixture of 48% propane, 50% butane, and 2% pentane.

  • Case study - Long term supply of LPG through Berbera port:

  • In newly developing countries such as Somalia, market demand will be largely driven by availability and affordability, in both cases relative to alternative energy sources such as wood, charcoal and kerosene. Our market plan includes importing LPG using ISO Tank Containers initially and later Bulk by ship and develop facilities for storage, filling and inland distribution

Petroleum products

  • Petroleum products are materials derived from crude oil (petroleum) as it is processed in oil refineries. Unlike petrochemicals, which are a collection of well-defined usually pure organic compounds, petroleum products are complex mixtures. The majority of petroleum is converted to petroleum products, which includes several classes of fuels.

  • The largest share of oil products is used as "energy carriers", i.e. various grades of fuel oil and gasoline. These fuels include or can be blended to give gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuel, heating oil, and heavier fuel oils. Heavier (less volatile) fractions can also be used to produce asphalt, tar, paraffin wax, lubricating and other heavy oils

Bitumen

  • Asphalt, also known as bitumen is a sticky, black, highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. It may be found in natural deposits or may be a refined product, and is classed as a pitch. The primary use (70%) of asphalt is in road construction, where it is used as the glue or binder mixed with aggregate particles to create asphalt concrete. Its other main uses are for bituminous waterproofing products, including production of roofing felt and for sealing flat roofs.

Naphta

  • Naphtha is a flammable liquid hydrocarbon mixture. Naphtha is used to dilute heavy crude oil to reduce its viscosity and enable/facilitate transport; undiluted heavy crude cannot normally be transported by pipeline, and may also be difficult to pump onto oil tankers. Other common dilutants include natural-gas condensate, and light crude. Light naphtha is used as a fuel in some commercial applications; One notable example is wick-based cigarette lighters, such as the Zippo. Naphtha is also a crucial component in the production of plastics
